Oor' Del

Howdy-do all of you!

We're going to sort your Monday blues right out with another meet the team edition, this week it's time to meet our Brand Director, Derek Graham  - otherwise known as oor' Del, or the guy who can't sleep unless all his wardrobes are shut in his house, because that's where the baddies come from...

If you want to find out more about Del, keep reading...

Q: So Del, let's get started - tell me, what does a typical day in the office look like for you?

A: Well, I start my day in true Scottish fashion... with a classy can of Diet Bru which sets me up for the morning. Work generally starts with checking emails and job lists for the day and then I dive headfirst into the design work.

Pretty much every day is different - from designing cracking brands (even if I do say so myself), to developing full creative campaign roll-outs. I love it, it's what gets me out of bed in the morning. Well...that and two kids needing fed, watered and taken to school/nursery!

Q: Two kids would definitely get you out of bed, fairly early, in the morning! What would you say your favourite thing to do in summer (even though ours is fairly volatile...) is?

A: I'd say it was going on holiday and sitting in the sun with a beer and a book - well I say book but I mean an Audible book, reading an actual book is too much like hard work...

Q: Totally understandable. Tell me, if there was a movie made about your life, what genre would it be?

A: It wouldn't be so much a genre, but if there's a movie with a Derek in it then he'll either be weird, evil, quirky or a criminal mastermind - I challenge you to find a movie that has a Derek in it that's just an average Joe!

Q: A rather odd challenge but I'm sure someone will take you up on it! Speaking of odd, have you got any weird quirks?

A: Well, I can't go to sleep at night unless all of the wardrobe doors are closed in every room of my house. It's where the baddies come from at night you know!

Q: Del, there's no monsters in your wardrobes...they're under your bed. MOVING ON, what's your biggest addiction?

A: Ooft, there are a few actually:

  • My two kids
  • Diet Bru
  • Branding (yes I am aware it's a boring work-related answer, but I really do love it)
  • Buying tickets for gigs, so far I've managed some pretty big ones this year - Eminem, The Vamps, TRNSMT Festival, Royal Blood, Metallica, Five Finger Death Punch (to name a few from my eclectic music taste)
  • Binge watching Netflix - I am totally addicted. I've just binge watched 'The Mist' over the past two nights, now on to 'The Defenders'...

Q: You weren't kidding when you said there were a few and you loved your Diet Bru! Tell me, what is one thing on your bucket list?

A: I ABSOLUTELY MUST GO TO THE SUPER BOWL. It's a dream of mine to be there one year, trying to convince my fiancée to take me to Atlanta for my 40th (wow) birthday in 2019 - Steph if you're reading this, it would be an awesome present... love you.

Q: I'm rooting for ya'! Since you like binge watching TV this is a good question - what sitcom family would you be a member of?

A: The Banks Family from Fresh Prince of Bel Air - I can bust a move as good as Carlton!

Q: You'll have to prove that! Let's talk veg - if you were a vegetable, what would you be?

A: Probably a pumpkin: big, round and capable of making some damn scary faces.

Q: Tell me, what is your favourite thing about working at BB?

A: Creating brands that people love, that make them feel really proud to represent them and their business, brands that give them an emotional connection.

Speaking of an emotional connection, I had one client start crying about how much they loved their brand and let's not forget the client who loved their brand so much that...

True story.

Q: Well, you can't get much more emotional than that eh! To round this off Del, describe yourself in 3 words...

A: I'd say...

Funny, Cuddly, Creative.

We hope you enjoyed part 2 of meet the team,

There's still more to go, come back next week and meet another member of our quirky team!

Until then,
